Fingerprinting Made Mandatory
As of July 1, people who apply for a real estate sales associate or broker’s license in Florida will be required to have electronic fingerprints taken. The fingerprints will be electronically submitted to the FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Electronic fingerprinting has several advantages over traditional fingerprinting, according to Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation. These advantages include speeding up the process of submitting fingerprints to law enforcement and reducing the likelihood that fingerprints will be illegible or that information on fingerprint cards will be missing.
Applicants can choose any of 15 sites across Florida to have the fingerprinting done, at a cost of $61.
