Drivers who do not follow the rules in Sacramento, Calif., will have to deal with a new high-tech system that is cracking down on parking violators. In a new pilot program, trucks are equipped with infrared cameras and are driven down streets scanning license plates. When the trucks find a car with too many unpaid tickets, an alarm sounds off. The truck drivers double-check the license numbers and put a boot on the car and a notice on the windshield. The cameras can scan about 1,000 licenses an hour, and in a day, about eight to nine cars are booted using the new system. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=289&ncid=289&e=9&u=/ibsys/20040803/lo_kcra/2314214
