San Diego changes environmental appeals process
It’s already one of the toughest places to build in California, but now San Diego may be placing more roadblocks in the building industry’s path. This week, the City Council approved a new process of accepting earlier appeals of environmental determinations by planning staff for new construction projects. The changes were made to bring the city into compliance with recent updates to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The new appeals process will allow individuals to appeal directly to the City Council for another hearing of certain CEQA-related environmental determinations made by city staff. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=312&ncid=312&e=16&u=/sddt/20040720/lo_sddt/citycouncilbroadenssystemofappealingnewconstructio
