Time to take a rest

Nicole Pietrantoni of the Tennessee Arts Commission took this photo of public art at the Smith County, Tenn., Rest Area on Interstate 40. Situated along the banks of one of Tennessee’s best trout fisheries, the Caney Fork River, the rest stop is located roughly midway between Knoxville and Nashville. The functional sun dial was created by renowned sculpture artist, Preston Farabow of Knoxville, Tenn. The work was commissioned by First Lady Andrea Conte, in partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission, Tennessee Department of Transportation, and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.
