Last month, Nags Head, N.C., dismantled a landmark water tank and broadcast the process on its Web site. The 300,000-gallon elevated water storage tank was the town's first, built in 1963 at the municipal complex for approximately $52,000 to replace private wells. Since the town's new 500,000-gallon tank went online in April 2006, the 44-year old tank was no longer needed, so Romeo, Mich.-based Iseler Demolition was called in to remove it. The project was expected to take up to five days, but good weather helped the project along, and it only took one. Watch a time-lapse video of the demolition at www.townofnagshead.net.
