The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) has launched a new Web site for its Green Cleaning Program, which encourages state agencies and schools to use environmentally friendly cleaning products. The Web site provides information and resources to help schools and state agencies comply with state laws requiring the use of green cleaning products.

In a statement, OGS cites studies showing that green-cleaning practices in schools reduce children's exposure to harmful chemicals. The new Web site lists five steps to creating a green cleaning program: groundwork, assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation. To support the five steps, the Web site includes green cleaning best practices, a list of OGS-approved green cleaning products, and will soon include interactive online training.
