Contest offers free website redesign

CivicPlus contest offers free website redesign to cities and counties.

Is your city or county looking to revamp its website? If so, you may be interested in Manhattan, Kan.-based CivicPlus’ Extreme Website Makeover Contest. Eleven grand-prize winning cities and counties will receive redesigns of their websites.

Entries are due by Friday, Dec. 9. Local government officials can submit an entry on CivicPlus’ website. Winners will be determined by a number of factors, including community need and the age of the local governments’ current websites.

“The tight economy has been choking city and county government budgets for years,” said Ward Morgan, founder and president of CivicPlus, in a press release. “As a result, many municipalities have put off making much-needed changes and upgrades to their websites, which ultimately translates into less service, less communication and less convenience for their citizens.”

CivicPlus also will select 10 runners-up to receive a $5,000 discount on the firm’s Premium website design and service package.

The company will notify the winners before the end of the year and will publicly announce the winning contestants at the end of January 2012.

It’s all about "connectivity" – the connection between government and its citizens, and the real and perceived benefits that arise from that. Governments manage more effectively and efficiently through greater public input and feedback.
