RainWorks Challenge

Cowboy festival
Santa Clarita, Calif., saddled up April 18 for its 20th annual Cowboy Festival hosted by SENSES, a part of City’s Arts and Events department. Hundreds of cowboys and cowgirls crowded Main Street for the event’s kick off block party which included line dancing, live country music, gourmet food trucks, street performers and even a mechanical bull.

Chicago parks
A computer generated projection of Maggie Daley Park, one of 300 slated for renovation in the Chicago Plays initiative, demonstrates the different types of new play equipment that will be available to the city's children. Over the next five years the Chicago Park District plans to renovate, rebuild and repair over 300 city parks.

New Citizenship
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas administered the Oath of Allegiance to 25 citizenship candidates, who celebrated after getting their Certificates of Naturalization.

President visits Miami transportation project
President Obama toured the construction site for the new Port of Miami tunnel on March 29 as part of an outreach program to encourage greater spending on infrastructure improvements. The $1 billion tunnel project will link the Port of Miami with the interstate highway system (I-395 and I-95). When completed in August 2014, the tunnel will provide improved access for trucks and cruise passengers destined for the Port of Miami, taking heavy traffic off the streets of downtown Miami, eliminating a source of congestion and improving air quality.

The finish
This wood sculpture, "The Finish," is part of Santa Clarita, Calif.'s Common Spaces: Art in Public Places campaign. The 14-feet high sculpture represents a runner's excitement after crossing the finish line in a race. The sculpture by artist Scott Bruckner is the third piece of art installed along Santa Clarita's South Fork Trail, which runs through the heart of the city.
