Johns Creek, Ga., has received a “Heart Ready City” award from the Dallas-based American Heart Association for its CPR education programs and proliferation of automated external defibrillators throughout the community.

Hillsborough County, Fla., has received the Removing Barriers Initiative award from the Burr Ridge, Ill.-based National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials for the county's All People's Life Center for residents with special needs.

Arizona Chief Information Officer Chris Cummiskey has received the Distinguished Service to State Government Award from the Washington-based National Governors Association in recognition of his 17 years of service.
