Yorktown, Va.'s Riverwalk Landing has received a Grand Award from the Baltimore-based Professional Grounds Management Society in the Government Building or Complex category of the group's Green Star Awards competition.
The competition recognizes public, private, commercial and industrial grounds that are at least two years old and have been continuously maintained by the nominees for at least two years with a high degree of excellence.
Yorktown's Riverwalk Landing was developed by York County to revive the town's historic waterfront. It includes a 395-foot pier, boat slips, a waterfront seafood restaurant and 10 retail and food shops.
Past recipients in the category include the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas, and the George Bush Presidential Library Complex in College Station, Texas.
