The National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) benchmarked 3,100 agencies to show local leaders the importance of parks and recreation (P&R) to a community's health and well being. Some of the results are below. 450 is the median number of acres of land maintained by P&R agencies. 128 is the median number of volunteers assisting P&R agencies.

In June, the Ashburn, Va.-based National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) benchmarked 3,100 agencies to show local leaders the importance of parks and recreation (P&R) to a community's health and well being. Some of the results are below.
