Belgrade, Mont., resident Erik Slye really, really did not want to serve jury duty. Unfortunately, Slye's attempt to get out of his civic obligation almost led to his own incarceration, according to The Smoking Gun Web site. Slye sent an obscenity-laden affidavit to court workers, whom he called “morons,” saying he could not afford to take time off work and that jury duty is “a complete waste of time.” “I would rather count the wrinkles on my dog's *&#$ than sit on a jury,” Slye wrote. He was ordered by a Gallatin County District Court judge to apologize for the note, which he did.
