Fresno, Calif., Mayor Alan Autry says he’s upset because his plan to reform the school district in his city fell by the wayside as the state legislature approved Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s takeover plan for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Autry says the politicians in Sacramento ignored his request for a statement attached to the Los Angeles bill saying the legislature would address Fresno’s school district next year, according to the Los Angles Times. A spokesman for Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles) says Autry only called them once and didn’t show he had local support for his project.
