Portable, High-Resolution Camera Speeds Water Sample Processing
Algae-monitoring FlowCAM enables water quality engineers to automatically detect, image, and identify algal cells in real time in seconds. The portable FlowCAM includes a 30mW. 473 nm. blue solid-state laser, digital firewire progressive scan CCD color camera, and proprietary software. Allows sample processing by both fluorescence and light scatter simultaneously. Ensures every algal cell and particle are detected, imaged in hi-res in full color, identified, counted, and measured. Discriminates algal from non-algal particles, even in highly diluted samples. Featuring flow cytometry and microscopy, FlowCAM accelerates sample processing from up to 30 days for off-site, manual processing using traditional microscopy to a few minutes. Includes 4 levels of magnification for analyzing cells and particles from 3 um. to 3 mm., such as blue green algae and zooplankton, respectively. Comes pre-loaded with VisualSpreadsheet software for manipulating, comparing, and analyzing the acquired images and data in an easy-to-use, Excel-based platform.
