Battery-powered electric scooter saves big over gasoline models
Emission-free, low-noise Vectrix scooter boasts a top speed of 62 mph (accelerating from 0-50 mph in 6.8 seconds) and a cruising range of 55 miles on a single charge (at average speed of 25 mph) at one-tenth the cost of gasoline. Features a low center of gravity, stiff frame and even weight distribution for responsive handling. Rider uses just one hand to stop and go, twisting the throttle for instant acceleration, then twisting the throttle forward to activate regenerative braking. Integrated electric motor and single-stage planetary gearbox eliminate clutch and gear shifting. Digital dashboard displays speed, odometer, energy consumption, battery status and estimated range. Onboard charger plugs into any standard 110/220-volt electric outlet and recharges the nickel-metal-hydride battery pack in just over 2 hours. Also features under-seat storage for a full-sized helmet and additional storage space in glove box. Battery life is estimated at up to 10 years based on 5,000 miles per year.
