Pickups boast refined chassis and suspension, other upgrades
Upgrades to 2008 F-series Super Duty pickups include a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel engine, a refined chassis and suspension and a rear-view camera system that allows users to clearly view objects behind the vehicle in their natural sightlines while reversing. The 6.4-liter Power Stroke V-8 delivers 350 hp at 3,000 rpm and 650 lb.-ft. of torque (on F-250 and F-350) starting at 2,000 rpm. Engine technology reduces particulate output by more than 90 percent and produces emissions similar to gasoline engines. Front portion of Super Duty frame has been lowered 7 ins., allowing it to meet vehicle compatibility standards without the need for add-on components. Newly designed leaf-spring rear suspension delivers superior ride and handling in all load situations. New F-450 pickup offers a maximum payload of more than 6,000 lbs. and towing capacity of more than 24,000 lbs. Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich.
