Webinar: Putting smart phones, tablets and other gadgets to good government IT use

Session will be part of the Oct. 11, 2011, State & Local Government Summit

The State & Local Government Summit online conference will include a session about how government agencies can offer services in new ways using mobile devices.

As more people regularly use smart phones, tablets and other gadgets, they are accessing government information and services in new and increasingly diverse ways. That can overwhelm government IT managers, who must keep data secure, meet the demands for ubiquitous Wi-Fi, develop mobile applications, and more. Those challenges are manageable, though, and a webinar on Oct. 11, 2011, during the State & Local Government Summit, will explain how.

An expert from Microsoft's State & Local Government team will present a session titled, “Obstacles & Opportunities: Leverage new technologies to better deliver public services.” During the 45-minute webinar, attendees will learn how they can offer services in new ways that take advantage of mobile devices’ unique features while keeping information secure.

The webinar, which will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST on Oct. 11, is part of the State & Local Government Summit, a one-day online conference that includes six education sessions and a virtual exhibit hall.
