KaBOOM seeks votes for Playful Cities
Washington-based non-profit KaBOOM! is asking for feedback from the public on 21 cities that have applied for $25,000 grants to become “Playful Cities.” Through its Playful Cities program, KaBOOM aims to increase the number of playgrounds throughout the nation.
Videos from the 21 applicant cities have been posted at kaboom.shycast.com. Voters are asked to judge the videos on their effectiveness in demonstrating the applicant’s qualification for the Playful Cities program, their creativity and whether the applicant cities have a diverse group of community stakeholders involved in playground projects.
Playful Cities participants are required to create a local play commission task force, design an action plan for play, conduct an audit of their public play areas, identify current spending on playgrounds and proclaim an annual Play Day. Cities in the program are included in KaBOOM’s national media campaign promoting playgrounds and receive priority access to KaBOOM resources.Want to use this article? Click here for options!
