A new report from the Denver-based American Water Works Association (AWWA) provides 22 key performance indicators to help water and wastewater utility managers compare their operations with others. “Benchmarking Performance Indicators for Water and Wastewater Utilities: Survey Data and Analyses Report” compiles information about organizational development, business planning and management, customer relations, and water and wastewater operations for more than 200 utilities. Charts present median ranges for training hours per employee, debt ratio, customer service, distribution system water loss, and sewer overflow rates. Readers can compare the findings by a variety of parameters. The report is available for $495 to AWWA members or $695 to non-members by calling (800) 926-7337 or visiting www.awwa.org/bookstore.
