Southern cities see fastest, most growth

The South is rising again, at least in terms of population. The Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area saw the highest numeric increase, adding 162,250 people during the year. New Orleans and other hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast metro areas that experienced a drastic decline in population from 2005 to 2006 rebounded between 2006 and 2007, with New Orleans seeing the eighth-fastest growth rate of 4 percent.
