The Atlanta-based National Conference of Black Mayors (NCBM) has entered an agreement with the Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based NTI Group to provide real-time, mass notification services for NCBM members. The Columbia County, Ga., Sheriff's Office has purchased computer-aided dispatch, records management, jail management, mobile computing and field reporting computer software from Wayne, Pa.-based SunGard.

The Kansas Department of Corrections has purchased a wireless monitoring system from Alpharetta, Ga.-based Omnilink Systems to track convicted offenders.

Gary, Ind., has purchased a gunshot detection system from Santa Clara, Calif.-based Shotspotter for use in areas of the city known to experience firearm violence.

Fayette County, Pa., has purchased a 911-dispatch system from Winston Salem, N.C.-based InterAct Public Safety Systems.

Henrico County, Va., has contracted with Indianapolis-based Sigma Communications to implement an emergency notification system that will send emergency bulletins to residents via telephone, e-mail, and pagers.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has contracted with Sacramento, Calif.-based URS to perform analysis and preliminary engineering for two segments of the state's proposed high-speed rail system that will run from San Francisco to San Diego. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission also has contracted with the company to perform a feasibility study on harnessing tidal flows in San Francisco Bay through the Golden Gate Bridge to generate electricity.
The South San Joaquin Irrigation District has contracted with Sacramento, Calif.-based SunTechnics Energy Systems to build a solar power system for the district's DeGroot Water Treatment Plant.
Stoughton, Wis., has contracted with Brookfield, Wis.-based R.A. Smith & Associates to prepare an economic and fiscal analysis for a proposed retail center.
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities has contracted with Morris Township, N.J.-based Honeywell International to manage marketing, customer service, training and quality assurance for the board's Clean Energy Program.
Will County, Ill., has contracted with Plainfield, Ill.-based Vintage Tech Recyclers to recycle used electronics collected from municipalities in the county.
Grand Rapids, Mich., has contracted with Rochester, N.Y.-based Pictometry International to provide aerial imaging for property assessment, planning, public safety and other applications
