Crimestar Records Management System
Small law enforcement departments with fewer than 50 officers, which make up the majority of U.S. police departments, often cannot afford fancy digital records management systems (RMS), but an alternative is CrimeStar RMS.
The system runs on a variety of systems and can be utilized on a single computer or in a client-server environment. CrimeStar RMS allows police departments to: quickly enter data; reduce errors and incomplete reports; automatically track registrants, collected evidence, and stolen property; allow access to up-to-date information to officers from shift to shift; register firearms; organize service calls; manage a jail facility; keep personnel records; manage fleets; and track cases from investigation to disposition.
Licensing the system costs just $1,900, which is surely a bargain for all the processes and improvements that the technology provides.
