Berkley, Mich., has joined the MITN Purchasing Group, an e-procurement system that provides vendors with a way to access and compete for local government bids. Albany, N.Y.-based BidNet operates the purchasing group.

MITN connects 1,601 departments from 146 local government agencies in Michigan. It provides a bid notification system that gives vendors instant access to Bids, RFP's, Quotes and Amendments online. Berkley joined the MITN on May 4, 2015. Through the group, the city provides its vendors with convenient access to bid information for Berkley city bids and bids from all other participating agencies on the system.
The city of Berkley invites all local vendors to join the MITN Purchasing Group and view its upcoming solicitations. Vendor benefits of registering on MITN include:

•    24-hour access to local government opportunities,
•    Notification customized to the vendors’ products or services provided,
•    Reliable and timely delivery of notifications, addendums and documents,
•    Advanced notification of Term-Contracts, and
•    E-Bid and E-Quote Submission

"There are many benefits to participation in the procurement network and sharing resources with other agencies," says Jane Bais DiSessa, Berkley city manager. "As part of the MITN, we will be able to save time and lower costs for both our agency and its vendors -- which is important to us."
BidNet developed and powers the MITN network. The company manages 15 government purchasing groups nationwide through its e-procurement offering.

Vendors who provide goods and services can register for the system to receive bid opportunities from City of Berkley and the system's other local agencies. Vendors register online at this site.

Berkley (population, 15,253) is a suburb of Detroit located along the Woodward Corridor in southeastern Oakland County, Mich.
