Town of Wamsutter, Wyoming
Public Works Director
Salary: $52,000.00 with excellent benefits.

The Town of Wamsutter, population approximately 800, is located in Sweetwater County. The community of Wamsutter is projected to increase its population ten-fold over the next few years with expansion of gas, coal bed methane and other mineral development. Wamsutter is located 67 miles east of Rock Springs, this area is also known as the Great Divide Basin. The Town has many large, well-funded public works projects in process or planned, and the position offers the right public works professional an outstanding opportunity to contribute to major projects that will impact the community for decades.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of Town streets, municipal water and sewer operations, sidewalks, storm drainage, signs and markings, right-of-way mowing, parks, bike and pedestrian pathways. The Department has a staff of approximately 2 fulltime personnel, plus 2 part-time staff, and has a budget of approximately $720,000.00. Reporting to the Mayor, the Public Works Director oversees, manages, administers, directs and participates in all functions associated with the day-to-day and overall operation of the Public Works Department. The Director provides leadership by establishing employee and operational performance measures, goals, and objectives; establishes and maintains a strategic plan for the Department; and oversees departmental budget development, preparation and presentation.

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field, or five years of relevant public works, rural and/or urban infrastructure development and/or maintenance, or closely related experience that includes two years of management and/or supervision, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
