Laureate Education, Inc. is focused exclusively on providing a superior university experience for adult professionals through the leading international network of accredited campus-based and online universities.

We are seeking educators /course developers who want to apply their curriculum development expertise to create college-level course content for online degree programs in Public Policy and Administration. If you have experience in any of these fields and are eager to quickly learn all phases of our online/media enriched course development and production processes, this position may be perfect for you. Multiple openings available.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops course level outcomes, objectives and curriculum based upon knowledge gained within the Product Domain and with Content Experts to generate an understanding of program level objectives, instructional model, and positioning for target audience/market.
  • Guides the creative process in development sessions with team members and subject matter experts and/or faculty to ensure the best use of media, and the use of best instructional practices in all aspects/components of the course experience.
  • Creates Course Scope & Sequence, Course Planner and Media Planner documents that outline the overall objectives of the curriculum and allows for the development of college-level online course content. The plans will result in a course that includes learning activities, connecting scripts, assessments and weekly instructional content, using the best instructional practices in all aspects/components of the course experience, and integrating media elements.
  • Ensures that the media aspects of the course are consistent with the learning outcomes and commensurate with the learning needs of the particular students for which the course is designed.
  • Writes and designs instruction for higher education courses, in voice and style suited to the target audience, in accordance with institutionally-determined learning models and best practices.
  • Assists Instructional Designer/Writers in understanding how to act on planning documents.
  • Ensures that quality standards, brand promise, and the company's vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the student experience.
  • Facilitates decision making with budget, time, and resources in mind and is proactive in identifying potential problems and solutions to ensure course development is completed on time and within budget, and meets standards of quality.
  • Models leadership and professionalism in the development/design process.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five years teaching or online course design experience (preferably for BA, MA or Ph.D. level courses)
  • Master's Degree in Public Administration or field of expertise preferred
  • Experience in online learning and/ or media production is a big plus
  • Advanced critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis skills
  • Work creatively in a well-defined, collaborative process
  • Manage multiple projects at different stages, while meeting deadlines and quality standards
  • May require periodic travel
