Annual Salary: $105,192 – 134,892

Located in Orange County, in southern California, the Public Works Department of the City of Orange (pop. 137,800) has over 150 permanent positions and a budget totaling $94 million. The Deputy Director/City Engineer is responsible for managing the following divisions: Engineering, Construction, Transportation Planning, Traffic Operation, Subdivisions, Permits, G.I.S., and Real Property Services (30 permanent full time staff).

The City of Orange is seeking an experienced, highly motivated engineering professional, an experienced leader with extensive local government management experience, who will possess knowledge of, and exposure to all aspects of public works with a proven history of working well with colleagues and encouraging positive working relationships at all levels of the organization. Experience serving a highly engaged community will assist the individual selected with making a smooth transition into the role.

REQUIREMENTS: 6—9 years of responsible professional civil engineering experience, two years of management and/or supervisory responsibility; a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field; registration as a State of California Professional Civil Engineer, and a CA drivers license.
