American Public Works Association Congress Coming to Toronto

From Aug. 17 to Aug. 20, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will host the 2014 American Public Works Association Congress. This year's event will feature over 125 technical and professional development sessions and educational opportunities to earn both continuing education credits and professional and development hours.

Topics to be discussed include career and personal development, engineering and technology, fleet services and fleet management and environment/sustainability. Aug. 18-19 will feature the Public Works Stormwater Summit covering stormwater resiliency and sustainable stormwater management. Two roundtables, one for public works directors, will take place as well.

Participants will be able to participate in workshops and tours of such sites as the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant and the Enwave Deep Lake Water Cooling. The congress's exposition area will also feature over 400 exhibitors, 15-minute power learning sessions, interviews with session speakers and prize drawings. Keynote speakers will include Toronto Chief Planner Jennifer Keesmaat as well as former International Space Station Commander Chris Hadfield and author Alex Steffen.
