Support and criticism for Virginia tunnel

Official support is growing for a plan to build a tunnel for a new extension of Washington, D.C.’s, Metrorail under a Fairfax County community, but some residents are still opposed.

Official support is growing for a plan to build a tunnel for a new extension of Washington, D.C.’s, Metrorail under a Fairfax County community, but some residents are still opposed. An influential neighborhood group has endorsed the tunnel under the Tysons Corner area for the new rail line to Dulles International Airport but with the caveat that county taxpayers won’t get stuck with cost overruns for the $4 billion project, according to the Washington Post. Critics are worried about the growth that will accompany the completion of the tunnel.
