An arrangement is pending that could make New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg the chairman of the beleaguered World Trade Center Memorial Foundation. Bloomberg has made the largest single donation to the foundation, $10 million, but also has been one of its biggest critics, according to The New York Times. If the foundation’s full board approves Bloomberg’s appointment, he essentially would be in charge of the faltering fundraising drive for the $500 million memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
