New York finds much corruption in city-financed charity

New York investigators say that officials at a Bronx charity that received $9 million a year from the city used hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal use

New York investigators say that officials at a Bronx charity that received $9 million a year from the city used hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal use. The executive director and the former deputy director for operations at the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club pleaded guilty Thursday to grand larceny and obstruction charges in connection with the case, according to The New York Times. According to the investigation, several top Gloria Wise employees used the club’s money to make home renovations and buy cars, and off-the-books bank accounts were used to pay bonuses to the executive director and four other officials.
