The Grants, N.M., City Council has been holding a series of hearings to decide what application to sponsor for a Community Development Block Grant of up to $500,000. The contenders include a plan to dig a new channel for the Rio San Jose to prevent the river from flooding the city, and a request from the state-owned health clinic to build a bigger facility, according to the Gallup Independent. The third request is for money to build 11 new homes for the SER de New Mexico home ownership program.
