Influx of low-income people may be depressing Dallas income levels

Information from the U.S. Census Bureau’s recently released American Community Survey shows the median income in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is dropping.

Some experts say an influx of low-income people, along with layoffs and wage cuts, could be behind the trend, according to The Dallas Morning News. A lack of education in the workforce also is leading to an expansion of low-wage jobs.
