Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a former union organizer, is facing the first large strike by city workers in 25 years. The city’s 7,600-member Engineers and Architects Association is planning a two-day strike for Tuesday and Wednesday to protest the city’s proposed reduction in pay increases, according to the Los Angeles Times. The union is encouraging workers in other departments to strike as well.
