New York is considering funding job centers for day laborers, but supporters of tougher enforcement of immigration laws say that would encourage illegal immigration.

New York is considering funding job centers for day laborers, but supporters of tougher enforcement of immigration laws say that would encourage illegal immigration. The Temporary Commission on Day Laborer Job Centers is gathering data on the feasibility of the centers that are intended to provide some regulation and protection for day laborers who, according to The New York Times, are often denied pay or made to work in unsafe conditions.
