Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa finds himself caught in the middle of conflicting demands as he lobbies Congress for more money to expand the city’s light rail system. At least two California representatives have plans to expand the service in their districts, while Villaraigosa has his own desire to satisfy a campaign promise to extend the city’s Red Line to the Pacific Ocean, according to the Los Angeles Times. And the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is currently prioritizing its light rail projects for the next 25 years.
