Los Angeles mayor, school officials cooperate in private

Despite an upcoming court battle over Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s takeover plan for the city’s Unified School District, school officials and the mayor’s staff are cooperating behind the scenes on collaborations.

Despite an upcoming court battle over Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s takeover plan for the city’s Unified School District, school officials and the mayor’s staff are cooperating behind the scenes on collaborations. The mayor and the school district are planning a system to track high school drop outs, and one officials says “we must not continue the battle of us versus them,” according to the Los Angeles Times. Also, Villaraigosa has released a list of 19 low-performing high schools from which he will pick three to oversee directly.
