Los Angeles affordable housing trust fund to get another $100 million

For the second year, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa plans to put another $100 million into the city’s affordable housing trust fund in response to an ongoing housing crisis. Half of the money will be used to fund housing projects for middle-income residents, and the other half will pay for housing and services for the homeless, according to the Los Angeles Times. The $100 million is expected to provide 1,000 new affordable housing units, but officials say the city needs to build 50,000.
