Iowa governor and legislators battle over eminent domain

Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack says he wants more specifics in a proposed eminent domain law for the state.

Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack says he wants more specifics in a proposed eminent domain law for the state. Vilsack vetoed a House bill that would have limited the power of local governments to seize property for economic development, saying it gave a broad definition of the type of land that could be seized, according to the Des Moines Register. The governor says Republican legislators won’t talk to him about changing the bill because of the election year. Republicans say they want a special session to override the governor’s veto.
