Prairie Grove, Ill., is willing to pay $170,000 to annex land that will connect the city to a car dealer it also wants to bring into the city. The dealership generates $300,000 a year in sales tax, according to the Chicago Tribune. As part of the annexation agreement, the city will return half of that sales tax to the car lot for the next 11 years.
