Residents of Fargo, N.D., will vote in November on a measure that would require that by 2020 at least 20 percent of the electricity sold in the city will come from renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind or biomass. The measure is expected to encourage more development of wind energy, since North Dakota is considered the top state for using that resource, according to The Bismarck Tribune. Local power company Xcel Energy says it will need 43 wind turbines, generating 1.5 megawatts of current each, to meet the requirement.
