New York requires advertising firms to diversify

New York’s Human Rights Commission has struck a deal with the city’s major advertising firms to require them to increase the number of black managers they hire

New York’s Human Rights Commission has struck a deal with the city’s major advertising firms to require them to increase the number of black managers they hire. The commission recently found that only 2.5 percent of the firms’ highest paid employees were black, an indication that there had been little improvement since the problem was discovered 40 years ago, according to The New York Times. The 16 agencies participating in the agreement will submit to three years of monitoring by the city, and if they do not meet their numerical hiring goals they will have to seek help from an outside consultant.
