Dallas subsidizes market

The Dallas City Council has approved a $1.1 million subsidy for a struggling downtown grocery market that the mayor says is necessary for the success of the downtown area.

The Dallas City Council has approved a $1.1 million subsidy for a struggling downtown grocery market that the mayor says is necessary for the success of the downtown area. The Urban Market would be required to stay open for at least two years to receive the subsidy, according to The Dallas Morning News. The city already has approved other tax abatements and cash incentives for the market and the building in which it is located.
