A Colma, Calif., councilman has been indicted on federal conspiracy and mail fraud charges in connection with accusations that he accepted free trips to the Philippines from a casino and then voted on issues that involved the gambling house. A three-year investigation revealed that Councilman Philip Lum, Jr., flew to the Philippines several times at the expense of Lucky Tours, a travel agency owned by the same person who owns Lucky Casino, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. If convicted, Lum could face two to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
