Somebody's breakfast became a threat to the public welfare in Portland, Ore., on the morning of Jan. 27.

A burning bagel in the break room of Mayor Sam Adams' office led to an evacuation of City Hall that lasted for 20 minutes, according to AP. After firefighters had extinguished the over-toasted treat, city commissioners were allowed to continue with a meeting that had been under way before the incident.

Adams apologized for the incident, but the identity of the bagel burner, and the flavor of the pastry in question, were not released.
