Telecommunications bill passes House

The House of Representatives has passed its version of a bill that would establish a national system for franchising broadband service

The House of Representatives has passed its version of a bill that would establish a national system for franchising broadband service. Proponents say the bill could lead to more competition among cable providers, resulting in lower costs for consumers, according to CNN.com. Opponents say it doesn’t do enough to ensure that lower income and rural areas would get broadband service or to protect “net neutrality.”
