Austin, Texas, may alter some proposed changes to its design rules that are intended to make the downtown area more pedestrian friendly. The new rules would require wider sidewalks, shade trees and parking behind businesses, steps that some store owners say might be difficult for small stores and restaurants to take, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
