The Craighead County, Ark., county clerk says state law prohibited her from accepting election filings from three candidates in a city election because they were brought in after the deadline. The Lake City clerk who brought the filings to County Clerk Nancy Nelms said she didn’t think her tardiness would be an issue, according to the Jonesboro Sun.
