Fairbanks, Alaska, wants railroad bypass
The Fairbanks, Alaska, City Council and the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly are considering resolutions to request that the Alaska Railroad Corp. build around the town, not through it. City officials say the bypass would eliminate 76 at-grade intersections between the rail and streets in the city’s core, according to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Railroad officials say the plan is too expensive.
