New Lenox mayor defends spending

The mayor of New Lenox, Ill., is defending his use of money from his campaign to pay personal debts he had incurred on a city credit card. Village President Mike Smith says he used the campaign money to pay off the debt, some of which came from a visit to a Chicago strip club, because he had spent a similar amount of his own money on campaign needs, according to the Chicago Tribune. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0605260142may26,1,7032777.story?coll=chi-newslocal-hed
