Chicago hiring corruption trial continues

In the ongoing trial of Chicago officials charged with rigging the city’s hiring process, defense attorneys argue that politics have always been part of the process and are only now being called a crime. According to the Chicago Tribune attorneys for Robert Sorich, a former aide to Mayor Richard Daley, also attacked the credibility of one witness on the grounds that he was testifying in exchange for immunity from prosecution. The witness, former Director of Personnel in Streets and Sanitation Jack Drumgould, said he was advised to keep the Chicago Skyway tollbooths fully staffed so that Daley would not get stuck in traffic on his way to his vacation home. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0605310025may31,1,4018113.story?coll=chi-news-hed
